Heart of the Community Award: Honoured to Be Recognised

Three North Tyneside businesses were recently celebrated for their outstanding contributions to the local community as finalists for the prestigious Heart of the Community Award, part of the North Tyneside Business Awards. While the winner has been announced, the nomination alone highlights the meaningful work these businesses do every day.

The finalists included the North East Nipple Project from Wallsend, The Willow Chippy in Wallsend, and I Love North Shields—a community magazine showcasing the hidden stories and faces of North Shields. This recognition, determined by public nominations, underscores the positive impact these organizations have on their communities.

Though I Love North Shields didn’t take home the award, founder and editor Simmie Harper reflected on the honor:

“Being nominated means the world to us. It’s a testament to the stories we tell and the connections we’ve made in this incredible town. We’re so proud to be part of this journey with the community.”

Michael James, Chair of the North Tyneside Business Forum, echoed this sentiment during the awards:
“This award is unique because it comes straight from the public. All the finalists are winners in their own right for the contributions they make to our borough.”

The Heart of the Community Award ceremony, held at the Village Hotel on November 14th, was a night of celebration and recognition for businesses that prioritize giving back.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported and voted for I Love North Shields. Your encouragement fuels the ongoing mission to spotlight the rich history, culture, and people that make North Shields special.
