Reimagined. is a carefully curated event celebrating local vintage, antiques and objects with a past, alongside music, making, style and nostalgia that shaped everyday life. This is about slowing down, browsing with curiosity, and reconnecting with things that were made to last. Expect a mix of handpicked local vintage and antiques, vintage books, local history and maritime finds, vinyl and northern soul culture, workwear and heritage clothing, jewellery, hats and accessories, and one-off discoveries chosen for their character, usefulness and story. From postcards and cookbooks to fisherman knits, utility jackets, ceramics, records and statement pieces — every stallholder is selected with care.

Since May 2024, I Love North Shields has been quietly building something special. What started as a community-led magazine has grown into a living record of North Shields — its people, places, histories and everyday moments. Written and photographed by those who know this town best, the publication has always had one clear purpose: to bring to the surface what already exists.

Fresh from its landmark 800th anniversary, North Shields is setting its sights on an even bigger stage: UK Town of Culture 2028. With a proud maritime past, a buzzing contemporary arts scene and a year of unforgettable community celebrations behind it, the town is building a bold, people-powered bid. From murals and music to parades and partnerships, North Shields is ready to tell its story – and invite the country to be part of it.

North Shields has always been shaped by its young people — their creativity, energy and ideas. Yet too often, young voices are missing from how the town is represented, remembered and imagined. Next Gen is a proposed new project from I Love North Shields in collaboration with Miriam Robson, designed to change that. Currently in development and subject to funding, Next Gen aims to create a youth-led edition of the I Love North Shields magazine, co-created with young people and rooted in their lived experience of the town today. This is not about telling young people what to say. It’s about creating the conditions for them to speak for themselves.

The UK Government has launched a brand-new cultural initiative: the UK Town of Culture 2028 competition. This nationwide opportunity invites towns from across the United Kingdom to tell their unique stories, build cultural programmes that bring communities together, and compete for a transformational cultural prize — helping towns of all sizes to unlock increased pride, creativity and economic growth.
