We are thrilled to share that the official North Shields 800 website has launched, marking the beginning of a year-long celebration of our town’s incredible 800-year history. While this isn’t our website, we’re proud to be part of this momentous event and will be bringing you stories and updates throughout the year.
About North Shields 800
The North Shields 800 celebrations aim to unite the community, honoring the town’s past, present, and future with a calendar full of exciting events. According to the official website:
“The people of North Shields are working as a team to host a year of celebrations for the town’s 800th anniversary. North Shields 800 will bring everyone together to enjoy a calendar of exciting events that celebrates North Shields’ past, present, and future.”
This year-long program is designed to appeal to all ages and interests, celebrating North Shields’ rich maritime, mining, railway, and industrial heritage. It will also highlight the town’s vibrant arts and culture scene, as well as its dynamic business community.
What’s on the Agenda?
The North Shields 800 celebrations feature an exciting mix of events, including:
- A spectacular regatta and blessing of the fishing fleet
- A parade along the iconic Fish Quay
