Gothic candles, horror memorabilia and witchy curiosities: meet Vain Witch, the independent business joining Common Ground at the Beacon Centre in North Shields.
Behind the business is Caz, whose love of everything gothic, dark and witchy inspired a collection full of personality. From homemade candles to crystals and unusual collectables, her space will offer visitors something a little different to explore.
From a Cullercoats hair salon to Common Ground
The idea for Vain Witch began during lockdown. Caz initially opened the business within her hair salon, Vain, in Cullercoats, creating a home for the products and interests she had long loved.
That personal connection still shapes the collection today.
“I’ve always loved everything gothic, dark and witchy.”
Now, joining Common Ground offers an opportunity to introduce Vain Witch to new customers and become part of a community of independent businesses in North Shields.

What will you find at Vain Witch?
Visitors can expect a mix of handmade creations, gifts and collectable pieces, including:
- Homemade vintage and gothic candles.
- Horror-themed memorabilia, including rare finds.
- Gothic curiosities and gifts.
- Witchy supplies and crystals.
- Vain Witch’s own branded items.
Whether you’re looking for an unusual present, adding to a collection or simply curious to see what catches your eye, Caz’s range promises plenty to browse.
Caz’s favourite: the homemade candles
Asked to choose a favourite, Caz comes back to the candles.
“I love everything that Vain Witch sells, but I would say I particularly love the candles, and they are all homemade.”
They bring together the handmade side of the business and the gothic style at its heart. For visitors discovering Vain Witch for the first time, they’re a good place to start.
A new chapter in North Shields
For Caz, Common Ground is an opportunity to grow her business locally while enjoying the connections that come with trading alongside other independents.
“I feel it will be a great local platform for my business, and I am excited to be part of a market environment, meeting new customers and fellow traders.”
Meeting the people behind the businesses is part of what we’re creating at Common Ground. You’ll be able to discover Caz’s collection, hear about her homemade candles and explore her corner of the gothic and unusual.
We’re looking forward to welcoming Vain Witch!
