On Sunday 5th October, North Shields came together in full force for something truly special — the very first I LOVE NORTH SHIELDS LIVE event.
Hosted at Salt Market Social, this all-day celebration brought together local makers, musicians, and creatives under one roof, filling the space with energy, connection, and hometown pride. The event — organised by the community-led platform I Love North Shields — was designed to showcase the people, talent, and spirit of our town, while encouraging everyone to meet in person and offline to celebrate what makes North Shields unique.
“This event was all about showcasing North Shields — celebrating our creativity, connecting people, and meeting face-to-face,” said founder Simmie Harper. “It was our community, our people, and our pride all in one place.”

I Love North Shields LIVE: A Celebration of Community, Culture, and Creativity
North Shields, UK — I Love North Shields is proud to announce its first ever I Love North Shields LIVE event, taking place on Sunday 5 October 2025, from 11am to 9pm at Salt Market Social.
This brand-new flagship event will bring the much-loved local magazine and platform I Love North Shields to life, turning the Salt Market into a welcoming hub of community, culture, and creativity. With free entry, the event invites everyone to come together to celebrate all things North Shields.
Visitors can look forward to:
- 🎶 Live music curated by CoastFest featuring some of the best local talent.
- 🛍️ Independent stalls and makers showcasing the town’s creativity – from art and fashion to food and heritage.
- 🎨 Interactive art projects and exhibitions including works co-created through our community photowalks and creative collaborations.
- ⚽ Football, food & culture coming together in true North Shields style.
- 🗞️ A chance to meet the team behind I Love North Shields and discover the stories behind the magazine.
“We’ve been building I Love North Shields as a community platform for over a year now, but this event is about making it live, real and accessible,” says founder Simone Harper. “It’s a gateway into the community – a chance to meet your neighbours, connect with local artists and makers, and be part of something that celebrates who we are as a town.”
The event will also feature special highlights:
- A headstand flash mob with “Headstand Mike,” who is on a mission to complete 800 headstands in honour of North Shields’ 800-year anniversary.
- The unveiling of new limited-edition tote bags from the I Love North Shields Tote Bag Challenge.
- Co-hosted by local artists and creatives, ensuring the day feels made by Shields, for Shields.
All stalls for the event are now fully booked, with over 700 free tickets already issued to attendees. Those wishing to join the waiting list for stallholder opportunities or get involved in future events are encouraged to email events@ilovenorthshields.com.
