At an event at THE GLOBE GALLERY on Saturday night, brothers Chris Donald and Simon Donald revealed they’re producing a special North Shields edition of the comic to celebrate the town’s 800th anniversary.
During the Character Building: Bring North Shields to Life in Comic Form event, the pair had the audience in stitches with flip-chart drawings and hilarious anecdotes about how some of their most notorious characters—such as Sid the Sexist and Roger Melly—came to life.
They plan to incorporate some real Shields characters into the comic—alongside some not-so-real—and would love to hear your off-the-wall suggestions. So, creatives, get your thinking caps on! You can drop your ideas off, old-school style, at The Globe, 97 Howard Street, North Shields.
