My name's Caroline and I love North Shields. My family goes way back and I always enjoy hearing tales of the town. I currently work from home as a linguist but I was a teacher for over 20 years. I live with my husband and our two cats. We love music, walking and craft beer. My dad lives close by and has built a boat. It was through telling his story that I began writing for I Love North Shields. I feel privileged to meet so many fascinating people and create connections in the community by sharing their stories.
Tynemouth’s own J.D. Linkleter — or Jimmy, as he was known — lived a life shaped by creativity, craft, and quiet contribution. From football programmes and wartime magazines to local landscapes gifted to friends, his art touched many corners of life. A sign-writer, illustrator, and RAF sergeant, his story reveals a fascinating blend of talent and service, waiting to be rediscovered.
