Necronoise releases “Casket Crawler” — a Darkwave collaboration with US DJ Dead by Dawn. A short, cinematic track blending horror, synth and dance — perfect for Halloween.
The kids can dance but beware of bad dreams.
Necronoise – “Casket Crawler”, scheduled for release 24th October and is the first single from the soon to be released latest album “Unnerving” by the prolific and emerging Darkwave DJ talent Necronoise, the alter ego of Michael Longstaff and also the host of Necronights who was recently featured in “I Love North Shields” magazine. Such is his energy and enthusiasm that he played a four-hour set for ILNS Live at the Salt Market Social. Casket Crawler, at only 2 minutes 44 long, is a teaser — and part of the perfect soundtrack for your Halloween house parties.
‘Casket Crawler’ is a collaboration between North Shields Necronoise and Massachusetts-based DarkSynth DJ “Dead by Dawn”. As a genre with its use of horror film scores, techno, heavy metal and 80’s synthesizer pop samples, its exponents produce music that is constantly evolving and crossing genres, and is layered with heavy doses of post-modernist irony. This is a slice of evocative dance music that tells stories and has cinematic scope.

‘Dead by Dawn’ is known for his tongue-in-cheek style, and a review once criticized him for not “being dark enough” or “taking himself seriously”. He is and does both — the synth work by “Dead by Dawn” is an insidiously engaging, tense theme placed over Necro’s house beats that evolve throughout this short work. The sum is a piece of music that would perfectly fit a family-friendly, yet sinister, Michael Jackson “Thriller”-type music video. You can dance in the kitchen with the kids — but beware of the bad dreams.
Necronoise produces highly narrative music, and collaboration with an independent filmmaker must surely be on his radar. Highly looking forward to the album, which we will no doubt review here.
