As we prepare for the next I Love North Shields Vintage Market, we’re introducing the musicians who will be joining us on stage at Salt Market Social.
Next up is Oliver Thomas Armstrong, also known as Olly, a Northern singer-songwriter whose music brings together folk storytelling, pop melodies and punk spirit.
Olly will perform at the Vintage Market on Sunday 25 October, from 5pm until 5.30pm.

How would you describe your music in your own words?
“Songs of rivers and stars. Words for all kinds of crying. Northern folk heart with a pop soul and punk rage.”
How did you first get into making music?
“I wanted to be a writer, and then found melodies were the way people let stories in. So I started singing and didn’t stop.”
Which song should people listen to first, and why?
“‘Throw Your Arms Around Somebody’ is a love song for my — and your — friends. It’s the one people sing back to me the loudest. You can find it online in most places, and every time I play live.”
Who or what has influenced your sound the most?
“People who love with abandon.”
What are you looking forward to about playing at the Vintage Market?
“I’m excited to wander around the market and see if there are mystery T-shirts for sale again.”
Alongside his music, Olly works across climate, arts and community, grounded in a belief in homes, health and food for everyone.
You can follow Olly on social media at @olly4everyone and listen to Oliver Thomas Armstrong on all major streaming platforms.
