ILNS Photography Collective Launches First Portrait Workshop on North Shields Fish Quay
A new creative opportunity is coming to North Shields as the I Love North Shields (ILNS) Photography Collective announces its first Portrait Workshop, bringing together photographers, models and creatives from across the North East.
Taking place on Saturday 3 May 2026 (10am–12pm) at Salt Market Social and The Loading Bay on the Fish Quay, the workshop is designed to support emerging and established creatives to develop their skills, build portfolios and connect with others in a relaxed, collaborative environment.
The session is delivered in collaboration with Northern Uniform (@uniformnorthern) — a North East-based collective focused on bridging the gap between local spaces and faces through fashion and lifestyle.
Participants can expect multiple styled models across two venues, with small group shooting rotations to ensure an accessible and hands-on experience. The workshop is open to all levels, whether shooting on a smartphone or professional camera.
The ILNS Photography Collective is led by local photographers Rachel Riley, Gary Ormston, Jess Riley and David Hall, and forms part of I Love North Shields’ wider mission to document and celebrate everyday culture across the region.
“This is about creating space for people to come together, experiment and build confidence,” said the collective. “We want to connect creatives across the North East and support each other in telling local stories through photography.”
All proceeds from the workshop will be reinvested into the collective, helping to fund future opportunities including a planned public exhibition.
The ILNS Photography Collective continues to grow as a community-led platform, bringing people together to share skills, collaborate and document life across North Shields and beyond.
