We’re delighted to officially welcome Jess Riley to the I Love North Shields Photography Collective.
Jess first began exploring photography more seriously in 2021 after taking courses to improve her ability to capture everyday moments with her family. Since then, photography has grown into a creative outlet shaped by observation, atmosphere and a deep appreciation for the world around her.
Her work focuses on everything from local scenes and seascapes to architecture, texture, nature and occasional self-portraiture. Drawn to interesting light, colour and detail, Jess enjoys slowing down and carefully observing the spaces and moments that many people pass by every day.
Alongside documentary-style photography, Jess also experiments with more abstract and expressive techniques including intentional camera movement, multiple exposures and shooting through objects to create layered and atmospheric images.
Having grown up in North Tyneside, the coastline remains close to her heart, with North Shields — particularly the Fish Quay and harbour — continuing to provide inspiration through its character, pace and ever-changing light.
Jess says being part of the I Love North Shields photo walks and Photography Collective has been a brilliant way to connect with the local creative community while celebrating the identity and spirit of the town through photography.
The ILNS Photography Collective continues to bring together photographers of all styles and experience levels who share a passion for storytelling, creativity and documenting life across North Shields and the wider coast.
