St Thomas More High School has offered West Allotment ladies football club the opportunity to utilise its sports facilities.

To provide long term growth and stability, the ladies junior and senior club has come together into a single venue, where it can build a community atmosphere and continue to deliver a fun, safe and challenging environment for grassroots football.

The club has seen steady growth within its junior ranks which has resulted in teams being spread over multiple venues and this mutually beneficial agreement will bring together resources to support and encourage access to sport across both parties.

West Allotment Celtic Junior Football Club (WACJFC) will continue to grow the juniors section to strengthen the pathway to senior level for players of all ages, whilst providing support and opportunities for children from the school to get involved.

There is a chance for all young people to join grassroots teams across the age groups, and to create opportunities in other areas of the game such as coaching and refereeing.

Extracurricular sessions will also be held for the school students.

Head of PE, Jayne Flynn at St Thomas More Catholic High School has been instrumental in facilitating the move, including significant upgrades to the existing goals and equipment. Speaking on the arrangement Jayne said: “St Thomas More is very proud to partner with West Allotment Celtic FC. This collaboration strengthens community links, marking a significant step forward in our shared commitment to excellence and community development.

“By combining our resources and expertise, we are poised to nurture talent, foster teamwork, and inspire the next generation of performers, officials and coaches.

“Watch this space.”

West Allotment juniors and senior ladies now train and play regularly at their new home, making the most of the facilities together as one club.

This is a great example of community spirit and teamwork in action.
