A one-off fundraising gig will take place at King Street Social Club in North Shields on Saturday 21 February, as local band The Pirates reunite for the first time in over a decade to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in memory of Janine Turnbull.
The event, running from 7pm to 11pm, will feature an 11-piece band, special guest performers and an auction, with all proceeds going towards MND research.
This pop-up has been made possible through an innovative scheme by The Business Factory North Tyneside, following the success of their pop-up shop at Wallsend’s Forum Shopping Centre. It’s designed to give grassroots and start-up initiatives the confidence, experience and support to step into retail — and for community-led projects like ours, that support genuinely matters.

We went along to the Mushroom Meander at Gosforth Nature Reserve on Tuesday 4 November, and honestly, it was the perfect way to spend a crisp autumn morning. Led by Ellie Davison, the walk took us along the Ouse Burn Way — a surprisingly wild stretch right in the heart of the city.
