From hushed conversations to life-changing confidence, Cheryl Tanner is helping women rewrite the menopause narrative in North Shields. Drawing on lived experience, specialist training and a deep sense of community, she shares how personalised movement, education and support can transform both body and mind. This article explores her journey, her clients’ powerful success stories, and why progress—not perfection—is the key to long-term health and wellbeing.
While North Shields gears up to celebrate 800 years of history down on the Fish Quay, another milestone has just been toasted a little higher up the hill. At the Tynemouth Lodge, landlord Damian King has marked 25 years at the helm of one of the town’s most storied pubs — a Georgian gem with ghosts in the rafters, Bass on tap, and conversation flowing where the TVs never play. From scandal and spirits (of both kinds) to sunshine pints in its secret beer garden, The Lodge remains a true North Shields institution — steeped in history, kept alive by community, and safe in the hands of a man who's not leaving anytime soon.
Huscrofts, the beloved North Shields vintage and salvage shop, is entering an exciting new era with the launch of *The Auction House* on Tynemouth Road. Spearheaded by owner Max and partner Matty, this venture brings live, in-person auctions back to the heart of the community. With a focus on accessibility, sustainability, and local charm, their passion for antiques and people shines through. From unique finds to fascinating stories, this new space promises something for everyone—bidders and browsers alike.
SIRA STUDIO, a video and photography company run by husband-and-wife team Simon and Rachael, relocated from Harrogate to North Shields' Fish Quay in July 2024. Inspired by the area’s energy and creativity, they’ve partnered with I Love North Shields to produce short documentaries celebrating local businesses and community projects during the town’s 800th anniversary year.
Behind the unassuming door of a small office in North Shields, a five-strong team is quietly shaping the sound of the UK’s independent music scene. Wipe Out Music, born from the punk roots of the late John Esplen’s Overground Records, stands as a testament to integrity, passion, and personal connection in an increasingly automated industry. From securing TV and film syncs to championing emerging local talent, Matt, Liam, Brent, Pippa, and Bradley embody a fiercely independent spirit that keeps creativity — not commerce — at the heart of their work.
